Assess your hearing with a
professional hearing test

Hearing loss can happen at any time and at any age. Strauss Audiology offers comprehensive hearing tests to determine if you have hearing loss, as well as the extent of the hearing loss, where it originates in the auditory pathway and the impact on your understanding of speech in quiet and noisy environments. Our friendly practice manager will ensure a consultation is made as soon as possible. After discussing your hearing care needs, the evaluation process will be explained step by step and performed in a professional manner.

THE HEARING TEST

The hearing test and hearing evaluation include a comprehensive case history, otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, reflex decay, pure tone audiometry and a full speech audiogram. Tests are conducted in a soundproof booth at Strauss Audiology, with specialised equipment that is calibrated annually to medical industry standards. In this way, the results will always be accurate and can be trusted.

Hearing tests are painless, and we check factors such as:
  • Pressure in the middle ear
  • Pitch
  • Tone
  • Softest, loudest and most comfortable levels of sound you can hear clarity of speech

This enables us to determine if you have a hearing loss, in which ear it is, the extent of hearing loss, if it can be repaired by surgery or medication, if you need assistance through hearing devices and how to maximise your hearing potential.

EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT

After the evaluation, expert hearing advice is given and a unique management plan is discussed with you. This empowers you with knowledge about your hearing. If hearing loss is diagnosed, options for treatment or rehabilitation are also discussed. Some of our hearing loss management options include wireless communication devices, hearing aids, bluetooth connectivity and amplification devices.

Sometimes not being able to understand sound is not related to hearing loss. An audiologist’s diagnosis can determine this. For this reason, it’s important to see an audiologist if you suspect a problem with your hearing.
